Safari Itinerary

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up in Arusha followed by a two-hour drive through scenic Maasai plains to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, you enter directly into an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, which acts as the main life source for wildlife in the region. The park is renowned for hosting huge elephant herds and iconic, massive baobab trees. As you explore the riverbanks and surrounding savannas, you can expect to spot zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, lions, and diverse bird species before heading to your nearby lodge or camp for the evening.

You depart early in the morning and travel up through the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, pausing briefly at the crater rim viewpoint for panoramic views over the volcanic basin. Continuing forward, you enter the Serengeti National Park via the Naabi Hill Gate and start game viewing immediately on your way to the central Seronera region. Central Serengeti is famous for its vast open plains interspersed with granite rock formations called kopjes. This area offers exceptional predator sightings, so you will spend the afternoon searching for lions, cheetahs, and leopards lounging on the rocks or hunting across the plains.

Moyo Tented Camp

This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the vast wildlife habitats of the central Serengeti. You can choose to head out for early morning and late afternoon game drives or spend the full day out in the bush with a packed picnic lunch. Guided by seasonal movements, you will track wildlife concentration areas, including sections of the Great Migration if nearby, or focus on the rich resident wildlife that stays around the Seronera River year-round. This extended time allows for deeper observation of complex predator-prey dynamics and wildlife behavior.

You start the morning with a final game drive through the Serengeti as you slowly make your way back toward the park's southeastern exit. Along the way, you have options for cultural or historical stops, such as visiting Oldupai Gorge—one of the world's most significant prehistoric archaeological sites—or stopping at a traditional Maasai village. In the late afternoon, you ascend the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to reach your accommodation on the crater rim, where you can take in panoramic views of the caldera floor below as the sun sets.

At dawn, you descend 600 meters down into the unbroken caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. The crater floor has the highest density of large mammals in Africa, giving you an excellent chance to complete your Big Five checklist with sightings of black rhinos, lions, hyenas, hippos, and elephants. After enjoying a picnic lunch beside a hippo pool on the crater floor, you ascend back up the steep walls and begin the three to four-hour drive back to Arusha, arriving by late afternoon or early evening to wrap up your safari.
