Today is not simply a transfer day. The journey itself becomes part of your safari experience. As you travel toward the Serengeti, the landscapes gradually transform, eventually revealing the vast plains that have become synonymous with the African wilderness. Into the Serengeti Upon entering Serengeti National Park, your safari adventure continues with wildlife viewing along the route. The Serengeti is renowned for its extraordinary wildlife populations and is home to the famous Great Migration, although wildlife movements vary according to the season. Your guide will monitor the conditions and wildlife activity to help identify promising areas for game viewing. You may encounter lions resting beneath trees, elephants crossing the plains, giraffes feeding on vegetation, zebras and wildebeest moving across the grasslands, or perhaps a cheetah scanning the plains for prey. If luck is on your side, you may also have the opportunity to see a leopard resting in a tree or hidden among vegetation. Search for Africa’s Great Predators With your experienced safari guide, explore different areas of the park in search of wildlife. The Serengeti is famous for its large predator populations, making this an excellent opportunity to search for: Lions • Cheetahs • Leopards • Hyenas But the Serengeti is much more than predators. You may also encounter enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, gazelles, warthogs and many different bird species. Your guide will use experience and knowledge of the park to read animal behavior, tracks and environmental conditions. The Great Migration If your safari coincides with the appropriate seasonal movement, you may have the opportunity to witness parts of the Great Wildebeest Migration. Millions of wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and other grazing animals, move through the greater Serengeti ecosystem in search of fresh grass and water. The exact location of the migration changes throughout the year, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the Serengeti remains an exceptional wildlife destination throughout the seasons. This is your last chance to capture photographs and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Serengeti before continuing toward Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park Lake Manyara offers a completely different environment from the Serengeti. The park is known for its beautiful scenery, groundwater forests, grasslands and the large lake that dominates the landscape. During your game drive, you may encounter: Elephants Giraffes Zebras Buffaloes Warthogs Baboons Monkeys Hippos Numerous bird species The park is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, although sightings are never guaranteed. Final Safari Lunch Enjoy lunch before continuing your journey toward Arusha.
