Safari Itinerary
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town; you will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming trek and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. The missing gear can be rented on this day. The hotel check-in starts at 12:00 PM. Meals: No meals included

Park View Inn

After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate for registration and completion of park formalities. The trek begins through the lush montane rainforest, with the trail gradually ascending toward Mandara Hut. Along the way, you may encounter colobus and blue monkeys, as well as a variety of bird species. Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,720 m) in the afternoon. Settle into your hut, enjoy dinner, and spend the night. Distance: 8 km -Hiking time: 4–5 hours -Elevation gain: +860 m -Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Mandara Hut

After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind and continue into the moorland zone. The landscape becomes more open, with giant heathers and spectacular views of the surrounding mountain terrain. The trail continues steadily uphill toward Horombo Hut. On clear days, you can enjoy impressive views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon and rest while enjoying the mountain scenery. -Distance: 12 km -Hiking time: 6–8 hours -Elevation gain: +1,000 m Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Horombo Hut

Today is an important acclimatization day. After breakfast, take a short hike toward the Mawenzi side of the mountain, gaining additional elevation before descending back to Horombo Hut. The principle is “climb high, sleep low,” giving your body additional time to adapt to the altitude. The day also provides an opportunity to explore the surrounding alpine landscape and enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo. Return to Horombo Hut for dinner and another night of rest. -Elevation: 3,720 m -Hiking distance: Approximately 5–7 km -Hiking time: 3–5 hours -Highest point reached: Approximately 4,000–4,300 m Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Horombo Hut

After breakfast, begin the trek toward Kibo Hut. The trail crosses the Saddle, a high-altitude desert-like area situated between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as you gain altitude. The final section to Kibo Hut is relatively gradual but can feel demanding because of the altitude. Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,703 m), have dinner, and prepare your equipment for the summit attempt. An early rest is essential because the summit hike begins around midnight. -Distance: 10 km -Hiking time: 6–8 hours -Elevation gain: +983 m Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Kibo Hut

The summit attempt starts around midnight. You will hike slowly through the darkness toward Hans Meyer Cave, continuing across steep, rocky terrain toward Gilman's Point (5,681 m) on the crater rim. From Gilman's Point, continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point (5,756 m) before making the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After reaching the summit, take time for photographs and enjoy the achievement before beginning the descent. Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and refreshment, then continue down to Horombo Hut (3,720 m). This is the longest and most demanding day of the trek. Distance: Approximately 22 km total Hiking time: 12–15 hours Elevation gain: +1,192 m to summit Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Horombo Hut. The trail takes you through the moorland and back into the lush rainforest. Continue descending to Marangu Gate, where you will complete the park exit procedures and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Your vehicle will meet you at the gate for transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure. -Distance: 20 km -Hiking time: 5–7 hours -Elevation loss: -1,860 m Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

The day is left free to wind down after the trek before your flight home. Depending on flight times you could go and explore Moshi town and grab some souvenirs before heading to the airport. Hotel check out is at 10:00AM
